Where have you been?!?

So sorry to be MIA last week!  I was snapping pictures and thinking about the blog, but never made time to sit and blog.

I had that week were you have to get the to-do list done.

Here’s a wrap-up of what Sadie has been doing the last week.

In the background is Marcus at the driving range in Forest Park.  While Marcus hits golf balls, Sadie and I walked around the park.  She loves it!

The weather has been chart topping hot & humid.  I pack water for Sadie because our walks have been about an hour-long.  Sadie is not a fan of the travel water dish.  She doesn’t like sticking her head into the floppy bowl.

So, I went out and bought this travel bowl.  Sadie likes it much better.  Can you say spoiled?!?  🙂

I am still in the search for the perfect chew.  Sadie tried a compressed rawhide bone and a hard, stuffed bone.

The compressed rawhide was nothing special.  The downside was the mess it left on the carpet.

The stuffed bone is a keeper!  Sadie has been playing with it for the entire week.  She spends time licking the center and chewing the hard bone.  And, no mess!  It is great inside and outside!!

I also bought her bubbles.  Daisy used to love chasing bubbles.

Sadie eventually caught on, but I think the weather was so hot she wasn’t really interested in chase.  I’ll have to try again later when the heat breaks.

On the to-do list, was shopping for the cottage.  Sadie and I are going to the cottage for 2 1/2 weeks!  Yippy!

Life Jacket – Check!

I know Sadie will love the water and I’m sure swimming will come naturally to her.  But, a life jacket can come in handy when you least expect it.  We were thankful for Daisy’s jacket on more than one occasion!

Collar Night Light – Check!

We like to sit by the fire pit at night.  And, it gets crazy dark up north.  I want to be able to see Sadie and know where she is.  I stumbled upon this and knew it would be great!  It attached easily to her collar and the LED lights shine very brightly.  Great for a puppy learning (still learning) come & stay!

Funny Moment:  Marcus caught Sadie trying to jump onto the counter to get at a cheese platter I left out.

She accidentally opened the cabinet on the descent down.

On that note, here is my cottage reading material.

Puppy school was good, but I need to really practice and follow thru with Sadie’s training.  We have some skills to get better at and some bad behaviors to stop before they become a problem.

Cottage country has questionable internet access.  I have plans to buy a mobile hot spot, but I’m not sure if the cells towers will cooperate.  We may be out of touch until July.

Just in case… Happy 4th of July!

Trying A New Puppy Food

I spent some time yesterday researching a new puppy food.  Sadie’s new vet recommended we switch to a puppy blend.  She agreed with the other vet that an All-Stages dog food is not good for puppies.  She said the brand didn’t matter, but it had to be a puppy blend.  So, back to the dog food review web sites.  After an hour or two of reading, I went to Pet Smart to see what they carried.  I want a good dog food, but not one that will break the bank.  I bought one bag of Wellness Puppy food.  Then I stopped by the local specialty pet store.  I spoke to the woman working and she recommended this Holistic Select food.  Their prices are normally the same as the Pet Smart prices, but currently the food is 46% off!  Sold!  I decided to try the Holistic and return the Wellness.  Holistic is a 4 star brands on Dog Food Advisor, so I feel good about trying it and seeing how Sadie responds.  I’m switching over gradually so she won’t have any digestive issues.  I have 1/3 of the bag of the old dog food left, so there is no rush to switch.  I’ll take about 10 days to switch over.

Here are some more photos from our park walks… Sadie is going to LOVE the lake house!

Sadie chased this bird into the tree.  She watched it for a while, hoping it would come down and play!?!

Sadie really wanted this stick ~ok, branch.  She eventually gave up in search for something more her size.  🙂

Sadie has been doing very well in the car.  No car sickness and mostly good behavior.  She loves to stick her head out the window and doesn’t understand that it is only ok when there are 2 people in the car.  Mom can’t drive and let her hang out the window!

We have a 9 hour drive home for Easter.  Here’s hoping for a smooth trip!

Forest Park

Forest Park was the site of the World’s Fair in 1904.  Forest Park is 50% bigger than Central Park in New York City.

The park is about 5 minutes from our house and is full of great trails and pathways.  The Park has a number of attractions including a Zoo, Art & History Museums, Boat House Restaurant with paddle boat rentals, golf course & driving range, and a number of playgrounds.

The last two days have been gorgeous outside.  Sadie and I went to Forest Park for nice long walks in the afternoon.

I didn’t bring my camera because it was a new location for Sadie.  I was more interested in her having a good experience.  I’ll have to remember my camera next time we go to get some good shots of Sadie enjoying the park!  Sadie loved meeting new dogs and getting attention from strangers!

Sadie can not visit the dog park until she gets her Rabies vaccination, but I know she’s going to love that park, too!
